After wearing, gently wipe pearls with a very soft, clean cloth. Put pearl jewellery on after perfume and cosmetics have dried, and take it off before bathing or swimming.
What to avoid
Steam, ultrasonic cleaning, acids and harsh cleaning products. Keep silver polish and treated polishing cloths away from the pearls.
Storage
Let any moisture dry before putting jewellery away. Store pieces separately so their surfaces and fine shapes cannot rub against one another. Keep pearls away from heat and very dry conditions.
A mixed-material necklace needs more than one approach: suitable care for the metal may not be suitable for freshwater pearls or shell pearls.
